Traffic Prediction Project on BBC 'Click'

A Traffic Prediction project, by SMART Future Urban Mobility (FM) Interdisciplinary Research Group (IRG) and the Nanyang Techological University (NTU), was showcased on BBC's flagship techology programme 'Click'.

This research harnesses a system of tracking vehicles via GPS and combines the data with fluid dynamics to predict traffic jams ahead.

Prof Patrick Jaillet, Dugald C. Jackson Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, and SMART FM Principal Investigator; and NTU Assistant Professor Dr Justin Dauwels, said: "We have developed novel scalable algorithms for predicting traffic speed up to one hour ahead. This research is onging with the aim to help Singapore and other urban cities manage road congestion."

Broadcasted on 26 Oct 2013 on radio and TV, this short movie clip can be viewed at BBC.
