We will be accepting qualified applications for the SMART 2017 Scholars Programme. These awards will provide a unique opportunity for recent or soon to be Ph.D. graduates to participate in the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre in Singapore, and to become members of an alumni network that we anticipate will continue to evolve and expand over the years.
The awards, to be given annually, are open to those with less than three years postdoctoral experience and provided they have received their doctoral degree by August 1, 2017. The fellowship recipient would be able to conduct research of his/her own choice in Singapore within, but not necessarily tied closely to, a current project in one of the five existing SMART Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs). It is anticipated that the recipients will take up their appointments at SMART by September 1, 2017 or earlier.
The awards provide an annual salary of up to S$90,000, a research grant of up to S$40,000, and a travel allowance of up to S$5,000.
Applicants who are interested in teaching are also eligible to participate in a joint post-doc programme with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). These recipients will spend one year at the SMART Centre conducting research and spend the remaining term with SUTD conducting research and assisting with teaching.
If you would like to be considered for this joint appointment, please indicate in your research statement that you would like to also be considered for the joint post-doc programme.
The application period is from February 1 through April 18, 2017. Successful applicants will be notified by email sometime during the first or second week of June 2017.
